Today, Tom Cruise returns to theaters in Joseph Kosinski's heady sci-fi adventure "Oblivion," and as you already know by now, it's not just the action, intriguing story, the presence of Andrea Riseborough, crisp digital filmmaking and excellent special effects that will be worth paying the ticket price for. M83 has provided the soundtrack, which adds a unique propulsiveness and texture to the effort, and in the process it will hopefully make some more people aware of his excellent non-scoring work. Last night on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," he certainly displayed what he does best.
Hitting the late night show, M83 performed the title track from "Oblivion" joined by award winning Norwegian singer Susanne Sundfør. It's a pretty great performance all around, as M83 rocks a bang of synths and is joined by a drummer, bassist and string section. If you dig that, you can stream the entire soundtrack right here, buy it in stores now or wait to get your hands on the fancy vinyl edition. "Oblivion" is in theaters, read our review here. [Ology]
