10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesWell, it looks like penny-pinching Marvel found a box of old monster concepts sitting in the dumpster behind a rival movie studio and borrowed those designs. Looking distinctly bland, unmenacing and frankly, not unlike the aliens from "Battleship," fans now have their first real look at the not-Skrull thingies in the movie. We suppose the more indistinct they are, the easier it is to create in CGI since we figure those guys won't be doing much except being numerous punching bags for Tony Stark and co., that will spend much of the movie flying through the air and then out of frame. But it is a bit disappointing that no one seemed to have bothered to make an effort here.
Anyway, you can check it out below along with a Brazilian TV spot (in English, via Bleeding Cool) that serves up pretty much the same thing, but sans-creatures, with a bit more dialogue and different scenes. "The Avengers" opens on May 4th.

The film looks lame. Hiddleston is such a wet baddie. Such a girly voice.

I have to agree with the author. This movie looks bland.

I can't co-sign the "butthurt" like the rest of the fanboys who commented 'cause I've gotta agree with a fellow Kevin on this one... Loki's army looks generic as hell and they should have up the ante and gone with the Skrulls for this one. THAT my friends would have been EPIC... but fuck it, I'll be there opening night.

Marvel has dozens of alien characters and creatures from other dimensions that have interacted with the Avengers. Google 'dragoon' and stop hating

There are far worse things for a movie to have in common with "Battleship". Like, everything else, say.

seriously, KJ, your "Avengers" bashing has gotten old. We get it, you hate "franchises" and any movie that has a chance to make money and might have evil merchandising attached to it.
