There are summer event movies, and then there's "Guardians Of The Galaxy," which in the light of the drama around "Ant-Man," may be one of the few times we'll see Marvel really take an expensive risky gamble. But at the same time, this is a smart studio that knows how to sell the impossible, and as we get closer to the release of the film, it's looking more and more like a sure thing.

A new international trailer has dropped for the space bound superhero flick and Marvel continues to push the epic scope of their blockbuster. From Peter Quill's humble Earth beginnings to his encounters with all sorts of fantastical creatures and people beyond the stars, gone is the smirk from the earlier part of the marketing campaign. Instead, we get to know the stakes, which just happens to be the fate of our entire planet of 12 billion people. "If we don't protect the galaxy, who will?" our hero says, leading his team which includes a tree, a raccoon and a green skinned alien.

"Guardians Of The Galaxy" arrives on August 1st. Watch below.
