Nicholas Sparks maintains his consistent spot atop the bestseller list for one simple reason —his formula works. His novels invariably involve an attractive couple driven apart by circumstance followed by a rapprochement reached through great adversity, delivered with the underlying message that love conquers all. That very same template is intact in the latest adaptation of his oeuvre, "The Best Of Me."

James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan star in the story of high school sweethearts who find their romance interrupted when Marsden's character is shipped off to jail. Twenty years later, the pair are back in their hometown and reunite thanks to the funeral of a deceased mutual friend. The couple picks up where they left off, but the events from the past come to bear, mean dudes in pick up trucks threaten to ruin everything, etc. But never fear! We have every confidence the golden sunlight and faultless location scouting common to film's like this one will save the day.
