With special effects and 3D these days mostly controlled by many mouseclicks and keystrokes, the craft of moviemaking can go underappreciated. But the folks at Laika are making sure everyone knows that a lot of work went into their upcoming "The Boxtrolls."
The studio's newest stop-motion animated film is on the way, and a fresh trailer spends most of its time on the artistry and care that went into the production before capping it off with actual footage from the movie. But what is this thing actually about? It's an adaptation of the best-selling illustrated novel “Here Be Monsters” by Alan Snow, that's set in the Victorian-era town of Cheesebridge, where fearsome trolls live beneath the city streets, emerging at night to steal the city's children and cheese. And it sounds like a pretty wild and fun concept to work with and the filmmakers clearly had a blast with it.
Featuring a voice cast that includes Elle Fanning, Toni Collette, Jared Harris, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Richard Ayoade, Tracy Morgan and Ben Kingsley, this doesn't hit until September 26, 2014 but confidence must be very high if they're getting the word out this early. Watch below.
