Kick-Ass 2 Frozen

A couple of clips for upcoming movies hit over the weekend, at polar opposites from each other, one for a big animated movie that's still a few months away, the other a red-band featurette for an imminent R-rated comic book blockbuster.

The latter is from this Friday's "Kick Ass 2," with a featurette that sets up a final confrontation between Chloe Moretz's Hit Girl and a new adversary that might prove her match: the gigantic Mother Russia, played by newcomer Olga Kurkulina. It's a little odd to be hyping up something that's clearly part of the film's climax, but the fight choreography seems to be fairly impressive, which makes this the first thing we've seen from the film that doesn't make us want to walk into traffic in order to avoid seeing it.

The other clip is from something much more family friendly: Disney's holiday-season hopeful "Frozen." A "Tangled"-ification of classic fairy tale "The Snow Queen," this clip provides our most substantial look at the film so far, and reveals that... yeah, it's pretty much "Tangled" but in chillier weather. There's nothing particularly inspiring to anyone but the Disney hardcore here, with the leads -- voiced by Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad -- coming off as a bit bland. But hopefully the best is yet to come. We'll find out when the film opens on November 27th.
