Let's face it, at the end the day, chatter about tracking, marketing, audience expectations and more is just that...chatter. Until "Pacific Rim" opens next week, and until those first reviews come out, we won't really know if this was a bad decision on the part of financiers, a movie that deserved a better push or Guillermo Del Toro's blockbuster homerun (who knows, it could be). Either way, Warner Bros. is going big to make sure you buy a ticket.

So, here's one final trailer in all its epic glory, and whether or not you're down with human/robot machines fighting creatures for the deep, you can't deny that Del Toro has poured it out to the max. Charlie Hunnam is our hero, with Idris Elba as the speech-ifying bossman, and assorted random folks (Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Ron Perlman) slotting into supporting roles. And hey, this delivers what we suppose it has to: robots vs. monsters. If you're looking for character development and deep, resonant themes...well, this probably isn't your cup of tea.

"Pacific Rim" rattles the world on July 12th. Trailer below along with yet another clip and a new featurette from the movie.

I wish Kanye West creative directed this, because I already know what happens.

We defeat the monsters, even though with about 15 mins left in the movie it looks like we won't be able to.

And yes to BWATERS point - Alex Cross dubstep bullshit is killing my opinion of this entire presentation.

Also is it me, or is Elba just over acting the fuck out of his face.

I can't keep from wondering if whoever casted this ever saw Queer as Folk. Nathan can't murder monsters, yo.

Because the bad trailer cliche they hadn't done is dubstep. This movie sounds amazing on paper, and I love shots and beats in the trailers, but Warner's marketing is murdering this film. You know what kind of movies get dubstep in trailers? Alex Cross level fiascos. You do not want to associate yourself with that.

I AM NOT A FANBOY, SAW IT AT A PRE-SCREENING.

i think the negative reactions from some forums when the movie hasn't been released yet is a bit excessive at times. i don't wanna say too much, hope you can make your own judgement if you see the movie.

for myself, this movie has heart, depth, drama, action…is it perfect? no, not at all but it really is a BIG leap from Transformers (no SHia Lebeouf going “OOppptiimussssss, NNNNooooooooooo….”, We have nationalistic but no racist robots, and no stoopid model posing shots either!) and i had a BLAST of a time!!! fyi, i thought HELLBOY 1&2 were just OK, i didnt think The Avengers was that great, and both IM3 & Star Trek:IND were way overated (imho), so pacific rim was a pleasant surprise!

the kind of MEN who won’t like this movie are probably those who have lost their ‘inner child’, intellectual arsehole wannabes or those in a permanently depressed/conflicted state-of-mind.

The ‘bonding’/'opening up completely’ of the 2 co-pilots should resonate well with the female audience as well, so i think Pacific Rim would be an ‘acceptable’ date movie as long as you don’t GEEKOUT too much in front of the lady you’re trying to impress. This movie surprised me with a pretty good ‘emotional’ beat, even some serious tones but tempered with a 'light' touch of a 'summer Big Budget movie' that should help enlighten the evening with your date.

I had a great time, will go again when it hits the screen.
