If you like dudes and ladies in olden times yelling, facing peril, and speaking gravely, then 2014 will be your year. Two "Hercules" movies are on the way, along with "300: Rise Of An Empire" and, in case you forgot, auteur Paul W.S. Anderson's "Pompeii."
Sort of like a "Dante's Peak" but with better CGI and more robes, the film stars Kit Harington and Emily Browning in the story of slave Milo who has to rescue his love and his gladiator best friend (who is trapped in the coliseum) when a volcano erupts. And while we'll grant the visuals aren't bad, this looks fairy portentous everywhere else, though the movie does have a script by Julian Fellowes ("Downton Abbey," "Gosford Park"), so that's something we suppose. Shrug?
"Pompeii" runs from the ash cloud on February 21, 2014.
