Watch: Porn Isn't So Fun In Trailer For 'About Cherry' With James Franco, Heather Graham & Dev Patel

When making a film about a seedier career path – for instance, stripping in Steven Soderbergh’s excellent summer fling “Magic Mike” – it’s important to approach the topic with a delicate and nuanced touch. Our writer on the scene at Berlinale 2012 didn’t exactly find that to be the case with porn career flick “About Cherry,” writing it off as a film that “tries hard to provoke us into reassessing the porn industry, but is so ham-fisted that the result is not a look on the bright side, but a whitewash.”

Well, now many will be able to see for themselves, with the first trailer hitting the web for the film that follows a young woman’s (Ashley Hinshaw) move to San Francisco and subsequent career turn to pornography. The trailer is fairly titillating and all, but if the goal is to convince others that porn is a legitimate career path, it certainly doesn't hide the roadbumps along the way which mostly seem to be disappointing your boyfriend, mother, friend or basically anyone who doesn't understand why you want to have sex on camera.

Anyways, the rest of the cast is fairly impressive, bringing along “Slumdog Millionaire” star Dev Patel and go-to indie darling Lili Taylor along for the ride as well, and according to our reviewer the ensemble “works hard at being winning in often unsympathetic roles,” so perhaps there’s something to look forward to there. The film will hit VOD on August 9th with a limited theatrical run starting on September 21st.
