Review: 'The Immigrant'Winstone is his typical self while playing Jack Regan, with Drew taking the passenger seat as Regan's sidekick George Carter. The film doesn't look to be much more than a balls-to-the-wall, entertaining actioner (we're not complaining). From the glimpses we get, Drew looks fairly decent for a musician-turned-actor, though he has been put under the microscope and come through with flying colors in the past, featuring prominently opposite Michael Caine in "Harry Brown."
Scripted by Danny Boyle-regular John Hodge, the story centers on two hard-living, womanizing cops in the elite Flying Squad (the title, "Sweeney Todd," is the cockney slang reference to their department), a branch of London Metro Police who specialize in armed robbery and violent crimes. And if you had any doubt how far they'd go, how about the trailer tagline of "to catch a criminal, act like a criminal"?
'Captain America' star Hayley Atwell co-stars along with Damien Lewis and Steven Mackintosh, with 'A Game Of Shadows' star Paul Anderson (not that one or that one) seemingly playing the villain. "The Sweeney" hits theaters in the U.K. on September 21st, and Vertigo is clearly banking on its success as they're already moving ahead with a follow-up. [via DigitalSpy]
