While Seth MacFarlane could've taken the easy road and simply cranked out a sequel following his surprise smash hit "Ted" (though, yes, "Ted 2" is slated for a 2015 release) he chose to raise his game for his sophomore feature film. Taking a lead role, and tackling a genre that's tricky to pull off (Western Comedy), the result is "A Million Ways To Die In The West" and the first trailer is here.

Co-starring a wacky ensemble that includes Amanda Seyfried, Neil Patrick Harris, Liam Neeson, Sarah Silverman and Giovanni Ribisi, the story follows a cowardly sheep farmer whose girlfriend leaves him after he backs out of a gunfight. But redemption and love may be around the corner when a new woman rides into town, though, first, the farmer will have to deal with her outlaw husband who arrives looking for revenge.

So, will this be "Back To The Future III" or "Blazing Saddles"? Watch the trailer below and let us know in the comments section. 'Die In The West' on May 30, 2014. Update 2/2: Green band trailer below as well, if swearing and other R-rated stuff offends you.

I thought Ted was terrible (I almost fell asleep because it was so boring and not funny) but this movie looks like it has some promise. Hard to tell with trailers.

I have to say that the bull running that guy in the end made me laugh. Charlize looked like she was sleeping walking throughout this movie. She must have done it as a favor to Seth, whom she was dating at the time. Sarah Silverman made me cringe as always. This could have been a cool Family Guy episode not sure why Seth felt this was a starting vehicle for him and why don't we hear Neil Patrick Harris?

I love Seth. And I love Family Guy, American Dad and The Cleveland show. I hated, however, his movie Ted, his Oscars gig and I'll probably hate this movie. I think Seth should stick to animation and voice acting, which he's incredible at. It's what got him to where he is now.

So how many apple boxes is MacFarlane standing on to look taller than Charlize?

Why is that guy doing Brian's voice?

Liam, what are you doing in this?

Jeffrey Wells -- "This looks like Tarantino's best film yet!"

Hopefully this movie bombs and McFarlane ends up as comedic relief in Expendables 4. I mean they both obviously love excessive CG blood.

When is Ted 2 coming out? This doesn't look too good.

  • Sgt.John | February 2, 2014 6:14 PM

Yes, I would love to see a Ted movie again
    Put one out real soon.
    Thank you,

When you get Seth MacFarlane, you get Seth MacFarlane.

  • Dale | January 30, 2014 1:38 PMReply

That looks awful. Seth MacFarlane seems to have one note of humour, and it's been done to death before.

  • JOOA | January 30, 2014 1:21 PMReply

God, it looks mediocre. And I was indifferent to Ted.

    Appreciate the buffet-style comment, JOAO/OAOJ/JOOA. I'll take plate #3.

  • OAOJ | January 30, 2014 1:12 PMReply

God, it looks terrible. And I wasn't a massive fan of 'Ted'.
