Ted Mila Kunis

Here's the thing about Seth MacFarlane...when "Family Guy" first came on the air, it was a breath of fresh air, an irreverant, rude and very hilarious animated show that took "The Simpsons" template and pushed the envelope even further. And then he didn't really know what else to do. As he got more comfortable, MacFarlane and co. got less concered with using their voice for making political or social commentary, and instead just aimed for whatever lowbrow target they could hit. "Family Guy" became less a show than a string of random, barely connected jokes whose punchlines and subject matter got increasingly more obvious.

And so, here comes MacFarlane with his first feature film "Ted" and for better or worse, his trademark is all over this. This time around the non-human character he gives voice to is Ted, a stuffed teddy bear that comes to life thanks to a Christmas wish, and is now the best friend/roommate of John (Mark Wahlberg). But after 25 years together, John is ready to settle down Lori (Mila Kunis) who wants Ted to move out, and of course, complications arise. It's probably not a spoiler to tell you that by the end of this red band trailer, you'll hear an anal sex joke, see a reference to a blowjob and watch a boob get squeezed. Hilarious?  While this wasn't nearly as gut-busting as we would've hoped (Kunis deserves so much more than playing the straight woman here), Wahlberg looks to be in awesome form, and easily far more funny than the title character by a country mile.

Anyway, we'll see how it all plays out on July 13th. Watch below. Update: Less foul mouth green band trailer has arrived as well, watch it below. [via Collider]

    Looks dumb. Lazy writing.

  • Robbie | April 2, 2012 6:10 AMReply

Isn't this just a rip off of the show "Wilfred" starring Elija Wood and a pot smoking, foul mouthed dog?

  • Nick | June 13, 2012 7:07 AM

Clearly a rip off of Wilfred with the same themes of a pet / toy being foul mouthed and humping things and cute with the girls. Both Wilfreds ( Aussie version and US remake ) were hilarious.....this one will probably be a hoot too but lets acknowledge where it all started!!!

  • a | April 4, 2012 5:16 AM

Yod, remakes credit their source material, ripoffs do not.

  • Yod | April 4, 2012 12:59 AM

Haha, you do realise that Wilfred starring Elija Wood is not even original? It is a ripoff of a show called Wilfred starring some Australian guy - commonly known as a remake.

  • Taylor | April 3, 2012 7:30 PM

How can it be a ripoff of Wilfred if Wilfred is about a guy in a dog suit and this is a CG teddy bear? Do you also think Pete's Dragon is a ripoff of Harvey?

  • Fenil Parekh | April 2, 2012 10:01 AM

Rip off+Remix+Repackage = Sh#t by Seth MacFarlane.........simpsons and south park fans will agree.

I wonder if there'll be any cutaways, constant references to anything but the plot at hand, or 10 minute musical sequences that are basically filler.

If not, it'll be interesting to see a Seth McFarlane production that doesn't have ADD.

Looks like this m.f. thing is pretty lay-back, one of them among the potential blockbusters coming this summer. 8)

  • Nolan | April 2, 2012 1:10 AMReply

Couldn't even TRY to use a voice other than Peter Griffin, eh Seth?

  • rodie | April 2, 2012 12:32 AMReply

Quick, somebody get MacFarlane's ego reduced and send ALF a royalty check.

  • Huffy | April 1, 2012 11:37 PMReply

OMG, A TEDDYBEAR TALKING ABOUT SEX! AND HE SMOKES POT! HOW KEEERAZY IS THAT!?!?!?! MacFarlane must be doing something right given how much money he has but goddamn is he a lazy writer.

This looks absolutely retarded. I must say the supposed raunchy comedies this summer (this, The Dictator, That's My Boy) look atrocious. I'm afraid this is the summer of the epics (Dark Knight, Snow White, Prometheus), not the stupid comedies.

  • Oogle monster | April 2, 2012 2:23 AM

I agree. Unless all the epics fail us, and then we're just royally screwed.

  • rollo tomasi | April 1, 2012 11:15 PMReply

His FACK at Tammy-Lynn cracked me up

I don't usually find Wahlberg funny when he's trying to be funny (i.e. The Other Guys) but watching him rattle off all those names is high-larious.
