Oh man, do we have some catching up to do. We're massive fans of Shane Meadows' "This Is England" (and if you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and snag it now) but for whatever reason, the follow-up TV series, the four-episode strong "This Is England '86," chronicling the further adventures of Shaun (still played by Thomas Turgoose) and the gang completely passed us by. And now, just like that, another update in the story of these characters is on the way.

A teaser trailer has arrived for "This Is England '88," a new series of three episodes that will air on Channel 4 in the U.K. in December. No word on exact plot details, but the upcoming entries in the (dare we say) franchise are described by Meadows as, "A truly British Christmas; an anti-climax. A bit nice, with some horrible shit mixed in." Sounds about right. Shaun has really grown up since we last met him, while Combo still seems to be in serious trouble. Either way, if we need a reason to get our asses in gear and catch up this is it.

If you're in the U.K., keep your eyes peeled on your TV listsings and let's hope it crosses the pond. Watch below. [via ONTD]

This is England '86 had some nice moments, but in the end it boiled down to a lot of empty miserablilism and ended up cheapening the original somewhat. Meadows should have left well enough alone.
