Watch: Solid New Trailer For 'The Wolverine,' Plus Two New Character Posters

Of the three big superhero movies this year, "The Wolverine" might well be the least anticipated at this point. "Iron Man 3" had the heat off "The Avengers," and has already made a billion dollars, while "Man Of Steel" has a reboot, the Christopher Nolan factor and some pretty amazing trailers. Whereas while James Mangold's film is from the longest-running superhero franchise currently going (it's thirteen years since Hugh Jackman first donned the claws), it's coming off two sub-standard films in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "X-Men: First Class," and it's reflected in the relative lack of buzz for the film.

That said, it doesn't arrive until the end of July, so Fox have plenty of time to correct that, and the new trailer that just arrived should help quite a bit. It's not wildly different to what we've seen so far, but it takes its time a little more, and feels a bit more muscular and confident as a result, particularly with some of the dodgy effects from previous promos seemingly more completed at this point.

We're still not entirely sold, but we liked what we read of the script a while back, Mangold is a solid pair of hands, and there's enough here to suggest that we might have something of a return to form for the X-franchise. You can watch the trailer below, along with two new teaser Japanese-style character posters for Yukio or Viper.

Jesus, I was indifferent to First Class, but I'd never list it alongside such a complete waste of time and resources as Origins: Wolverine.

At least FC had memorable instances of great actors playing well off each other DESPITE substandard material.

First Class scored better reviews than X-Men 1, Last Stand and Origins: Wolverine.

This on the other hand looks exactly like Origins: Wolverine 2. The story may be better, but Mangold is an utterly pedestrian director - solid, but anonymous.

At least Matthew Vaughn had some flair and some great casting choices with only the odd exception (*cough* January Jones *cough*). Here you have what - Jackman and… who exactly? No offence to Will Yun Lee and Hiroyuki Sanada, but they are hardly James McAvoy or Michael Fassbender.

Why is Thor 2 not considered a big superhero movie?

Thor was more successful than X-Men Origins: Wolverine, both critically and financially, plus it's a part of a much bigger franchise.

The font for the MPAA title disturbs me - I HATE THINGS THAT ARE DIFFERENT.

How do you know "X-Men: Days of Future Past" is sub-standard? They're only filming it now. Methinks, you mean "X-Men: First Class" which wasn't that sub-standard. At any rate, kindly get your facts right.

He wants people to share his view about 'First Class'. He's done it before. On an objective level, that film was a critical success, with a higher RT score than the second film, but he doesn't like it which means NO ONE ELSE CAN THINK IT'S GOOD, BAH. I don't know what's more pathetic: his repeated attempts to get others on side, or the fact that he's so transparent about it.
