10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesAt the forthcoming Tribeca Film Festival, Fassbender will star in the short film "Pitch Black Heist" and a trailer and clip (via EW) have arrived to give audiences a sneak peek. Co-starring veteran Liam Cunningham, the concept is quite simple, focusing on a couple of thieves whose next job will require them to pull it off in complete darkness. “One of my favorite films is 'Rififi,' this 1950s heist film where there’s a stretch where they can’t make a sound. When I watched it a few years ago I thought it would be good to do it pitch black with sound. Plus it’s cheap,” director (and former Beta Band member) John Maclean told EW. And it's the helmer's first dip in the waters with Fassbender in what is proving to be a fruitful relationship.
The pair have already teamed on a previous short "Man On A Motorcyle" and when we spoke to the actor last fall, he revealed they were working on a feature project together. Check out what the duo have conjured up with their BAFTA winning short below. And in case you're wondering, the song is "If There Are Stars In My Eyes" by Teresa Brewer.
