10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesWith the first season focusing on the trials and tribulations of a CIA agent Carrie Mathison (Daines) who believes a formerly missing Iraq war veteran Nicholas Brody (Lewis) has returned to America to plot an attack of sorts, the trailer for the latest season of the Showtime series (**Potential Spoiler Territory Ahead**) shows that these roles have been reversed as Carrie -- once the trusted government insider -- is now a disgraced and untrusted civilian. As for the once forgotten POW Brody, the show’s trailer makes appear as if he’s been freshly elected to Congress. Sparks are surely set to fly.
“Homeland” will return to Showtime on September 30th, along with “Dexter,” and we’re sure many of you are already setting your DVRs. You can check out the trailer below. [The Wrap]

i find this show to be unsubtle, clichéd, trite, and overburdened with tropes. i find the concept and character work fascinating, yet ultimately disappointing. this is no Wire or Sopranos, but i guess they can't all be masterpieces.

Danes' Carrie Mathison is the best female character on TV right now! Can't wait for this show to come back. Lewis, Danes and Patinkin are all outstanding on this.
