For many viewers out there in TV land, “Homeland” is the series they often refer to as the quintessential example of how television is currently offering a more nuanced, mature, and satisfying entertainment diversion than what’s being shown at your local multiplex this weekend. The Claire Daines and Damian Lewis-starring series recently had its sweep of Awards season, picking up nods and wins at everything from the Golden Globes to Writers Guild of America statues, and now season 2 is looking ready to bring all that drama and suspense back to your television sets.

With the first season focusing on the trials and tribulations of a CIA agent Carrie Mathison (Daines) who believes a formerly missing Iraq war veteran Nicholas Brody (Lewis) has returned to America to plot an attack of sorts, the trailer for the latest season of the Showtime series (**Potential Spoiler Territory Ahead**) shows that these roles have been reversed as Carrie -- once the trusted government insider -- is now a disgraced and untrusted civilian. As for the once forgotten POW Brody, the show’s trailer makes appear as if he’s been freshly elected to Congress. Sparks are surely set to fly.

“Homeland” will return to Showtime on September 30th, along with “Dexter,” and we’re sure many of you are already setting your DVRs. You can check out the trailer below. [The Wrap]
