What happens who you toss together Frankenstein's monster, Dorian Gray and Count Dracula in Victorian era London? Well, we're about to find out at as executive producer Sam Mendes and creator John Logan are bringing them all in the upcoming "Penny Dreadful," with the full length trailer promising no shortage of spooky happenings.

The rather randomly assorted cast of Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Billie Piper, Rory Kinnear and Timothy Dalton star in this one that brings together the public domain characters for a series that promises lots of flesh, blood and monsters — essentially what you'd expect from a cable series. And while there is a nice sense of dread throughout the trailer, this is going to be operating on a tricky line between hokey and horrific. But helping to steer things will be Juan Antonio Bayona ("The Orphanage," "The Impossible") who has directed the first two episodes.

"Penny Dreadful" premieres on May 11th. Watch below. [Indiewire]

Is it me or this show feels... I don't know. I just get the feeling that it won't find an audience..

looks to me like it'll appeal to the American Horror Story and Hannibal audience. while AHS is more of a meat and potatoes show, Penny Dreadful seems more like fine dining.
