Review: 'The Immigrant'Written and directed by Josh Boone making his feature debut, and starring Logan Lerman, Lily Collins, Greg Kinnear, Jennifer Connelly and Kristen Bell, the film follows the members of a fractured family -- from teenagers to divorced parents -- who grapple with love and life in its various shapes and sizes. The emphasis seems to be on sex -- having it, getting it, experiencing it -- as various trysts are peppered throughout the movie. But there's also a bit of a coming-of-age flavor, and some mid-life woes as well.
"It's a little bit about my parents' divorce, it's a little bit about a romance I had in high school, I based some characters on my brother and sister to some degree. I just put a lot of myself into it," the director told us about the movie last year.
"Writers" boasts a soundtrack that includes Elliot Smith, The National, Bon Iver, Edward Sharpe, a new song by Conor Obert and a score by Bright Eyes members Mike Mogis and Nate Walcott. There's no release date yet, but Millenium Entertainment should be bringing the movie to theaters sometime this year. Watch below.
