Watch: Vintage Style Arcade Ad For 'Wreck-It-Ralph'

With Pixar seemingly in a slump -- “Brave” had a mixed reaction, while the less said about “Cars 2” the better -- and other animation houses releasing their own solid films (last year’s “Puss In Boots” was better than it had any right to be) could the time be right for Disney to finally release something good on their own? The upcoming video-game-set (and influenced) “Wreck-It Ralph” seems like it has as much potential as anything the Mouse House has done in recent years -- again, barring Pixar -- and the studio has now released a nifty viral video to help drum up excitement in the public (read: adult) world at large.

The marketing for the animated film has dipped its toe into slightly older waters (older than the target audience anyway) with a retro-style ad for the video game that houses the titular character (voiced by John C. Reilly). It’s a pretty cool and effective video that even gets the VHS tracking right.

This isn’t the first time the studio has appealed to the nostalgia base -- during the run-up to “Toy Story 3” a similar ad for Ned Beatty’s Lotso was released. “Wreck-It Ralph” arrives in theaters on November 2nd. Check out the commercial below. [First Showing, via BuzzFeed]
