Watch: A Brief Look At Jessica Chastain's Audition Footage For 'The Tree Of Life'

A couple of weeks ago when footage emerged of Terrence Malick shooting his new mysterious project with Christian Bale, devoted followers of the director were blown away to see current actual video of the notoriously private man working on a very public movie set. It was certainly a very rare sneak behind the scenes for a director who generally prefers to work, not necessarily off the radar, but with his own core of players without the attention of the outside world filtering in.

Well, get ready for another very brief peek behind the curtain. Next week marks the arrival of "The Tree Of Life" on BluRay (details here) and it will arrive along with “Exploring The Tree Of Life,” an exclusive 30-minute documentary on the making of the film. Fox Searchlight has released a small snippet from the doc, centered on Jessica Chastain, and in the clip she describes the process she went through in landing the role in the film and along the way we get to see a brief portion of the audition tape footage. While it's not certain, it does look like Malick shot that raw footage himself (the angles and framing are sort of a dead giveaway) and if so, it's interesting to see how far early on he already knew how he wanted to position his characters in the frame.

So there you, that's just a brief tease, and there's plenty more to come on the BluRay. "The Tree Of Life" streets on October 11th. Check out the clip below.
