10 Essential Cinematic Antiheroes
As is the tradition for the Vienna International Film Festival -- aka Viennale -- each year organizers ask a filmmaker to create a trailer for the event and in the past they've rounded up folks like Stan Brakhage, Leos Carax, Agnès Varda and Jean-Luc Godard to direct spots. This year, the honor fell to Lynch and he did not disappoint. Titled "The Three Rs," this one-minute affair is actually more exciting and fun than the entirety of "Inland Empire." Behold: a question about rocks, a chalkboard, a dude hammering the dirt and a typically creative and decidedly odd sound design. But it's pure Lynch, absurdly funny yet still strange enough to be effectively creepy. We dig it.
It'll hold us for now as we wait for Lynch to spill more details on the new feature film he's apparently working on. And oh yeah, he's got a new album coming out on November 8th entitled Crazy Clown Time and you can check out the amazing/terrible cover art below along with "The Three Rs." If you're in Austria, the Viennale runs from October 20th to November 2nd.

Inland empire is weak, but I'm not a David lynch fan.

Appreciating Inland Empire makes you into a superfan who adores everything Lynch ever did.
El oh el.

Inland Empire could be great if edited a little (or lot) more. Same as The Tree of Life. There's a masterpiece buried inside the self-indulgence.

Also, superfans who adore every nugget Lynch poops out can't be taken seriously either.

I was gonna say the same thing Benjamin.
People who say they are David Lynch fans but then turn around and call Inland Empire weak can't be taken seriously.

Wait... there's people who don't like the masterpiece that is Inland Empire?
