Watch: New Trailer For 'One Day' Reveals Jim Sturgess Is Kind Of A Jerk

Oh, romance. Sometimes you end up chasing your true love for decades even if he's kind of a rakish cad and insensitive jerk which seems to be the message in this new trailer for "One Day."

Starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, and based on the best-selling novel by David Nicholls, the story follows Dexter (Sturgess), a spoiled rich TV host and Emma (Hathaway), a politically minded, insecure, working class Yorkshire girl, who meet on the same day, July 15th, for the 20 years after they share a one-night stand together at university. It appears that being flippant and at times just a plain asshole is the way to woo Anne Hathaway (and her many haircuts). Don't get us wrong, we actually really want this one to work -- we're big fans of Lone Scherfig's previous effort "An Education" -- but something about this gives us the impression that it plays far too close to standard rom-com tropes than we'd care for.

Anyway, we'll still give it a whirl when it opens on August 19th. Check out the trailer below.

I read the book.Dexter is very flawed,but not jerk.Characters in the book are all very well developed.

It's the comment from film's producer on Jim Sturgess.[i]"...With Jim, he's such an appealing leading man and so much of a person that you root for, that you can forgive Dexter his mistakes - which are many."".[/i

Jim is really talented and really nice person.I know Ryan Gosling is very talented,but Jim Sturgess is the the young actor who I really wish The Playlist paid attention most.I believe you will understand me in the future.

Its a shame the trailers turn the story into good girl likes bad boy for good reason type. Hopefully, the movie shows some of the girls f*ck ups as well otherwise this is gonna be a boring movie.

I see the accent hasn't got any more bearable- i don't know why anyone thought an american could pull off a northen english accent
