Are there laughs to be found in cancer? If there are, "50/50" is going to find them as the dramedy gears up for a release next month with two restricted clips from the movie hitting the interwebs.
Written by real-life cancer survivor Will Reiser, the script featured highly on the Black List a few years back and has attracted a tremendous cast including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard, Philip Baker Hall and Angelica Huston, with the story centered around Will (played by JGL) as he deals with the surprising news that he has cancer. Like the most recent trailer, these clips lean heavily on the comedy portions of the story. The first clip has Rogen and JGL talking about the latter's sex life with the former explaining what "froggy style" is and how "blow job" earned its name. The latter is the extended head shaving sequence that has featured in the trailers so far, and see in greater context, it kind of reminds us of another, less extreme variation of a body hair scene that Rogen was involved in.
Directed by "The Wackness" helmer Jonathan Levine, "50/50" hits TIFF next month and opens on September 30th. Clips below.
