'Paul' Soundtrack Gets U.S. Release; Comic Duo Reveal Early Drafts Of Film Were Quentin Tarantino-esqueYes, you're going to be seeing a lot of Nick Frost and Simon Pegg in the lead up to "Paul" but frankly, better them than Adam Sandler. And when they're doing goofy, very funny riffs like their recent "remake" of "Star Wars," we're glad they're getting the attention. So yeah, like we just mentioned, the duo recently teamed on a riveting shot-by-shot homage to George Lucas' classic -- only for things to not go so well between the oil and water team. You can watch it below.

'Paul' Soundtrack Gets U.S. Release; Comic Duo Reveal Early Drafts Of Film Were Quentin Tarantino-esque

Yes, you're going to be seeing a lot of Nick Frost and Simon Pegg in the lead up to "Paul" but frankly, better them than Adam Sandler.

As for "Paul," you already know by now it opens this Friday, but what you may not know is that the soundtrack -- already released in the U.K. -- is now available from your local digital e-tailer (and yes, the tracklists are the same). If you demand a physical copy, you'll have to wait as it won't arrive until April 5th.

Finally, in a recent interview, Pegg revealed that earlier drafts of the script were a lot more chatty than what currently appears on the screen. "It was interesting in this case, because we were making a much more commercial film. We were having to broaden our comedic style a little bit, and accept that in order to make this film at all, it had to be more commercial, it had to be slightly more broad, we had to let more people in on the joke. The comedy had to be a little more inclusive, it couldn’t be so niche, and in that respect, we had to adapt our style. Initially, in the script, Paul had these great long Quentin Tarantino-esque monologues about sexuality and religion, and about his thoughts on the universe, and it was a little way of commenting on society from the complete outside of it. That stuff started to fall away when we realized we were making a comedy chase movie, not an intellectual thesis about contemporary culture," the actor said.

Ah well, seems right the choice anyway. An overly talking, pontificating alien road trip pic might not have been the best path to go down. [College Humor/Sacramento Bee/AV Club]
