The fashion world hasn't been lacking in documentaries, but reason directors keep returning to the well is that the subjects continue to be fascinating. While we may not always get some of the abominations that walk down the runway, there is often a lot of thought and care that goes behind the clothing of some of the world's most influential designers, and perhaps none have been more internationally recognized than Yves Saint Laurent.
Making his directorial debut, Pierre Thoretton has created a compelling looking documentary, "L'amour fou." The film centers on the relationship between fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his lover, Pierre Berge, and most intriguingly, on their massive art collection which the latter auctioned off. It seems to be much more than just your average profile of a celebrated brand, and we hope that as the trailer suggests, this one will be digging a bit deeper.
"L'Amour Fou" hits theaters on May 13th and goes to VOD on May 25th. Check out the trailer below.
