10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesFirst up, "The Hangover Part III" will arrive on May 24, 2013 -- Memorial Day weekend -- hoping to duplicate the similar box office smash success 'Part II' had on the same date in 2010. Adding a bit more of a twist, that's also the same weekend Universal is slated to release "Fast & Furious 6." Will someone blink first, or are we going to see two mega sequels battling it out for your holiday dollars? Well, we're still over a year away. so there's plenty of room for folks to shift and adjust.
Meanwhile, "300: Battle Of Artemisia" -- which is bringing together a grab bag cast of Eva Green, Sullivan Stapleton, Jamie Blackley and Rodrigo Santoro -- will land on August 2, 2013. It too will be fighting for audiences, with Summit dropping the old-timer action flick "Red 2" on the same day. So what will audiences want to see? Sweaty young dudes killing people or wheezy old dudes killing people? You never can tell, so we'll have to wait and see.
Finally, WB has shifted Guillermo Del Toro's monster movie thing "Pacific Rim" from a spring date of May 10th right to the heart of summer -- July 12, 2013. It will square off against "Grown Ups 2" and we presume it will mash the shit out of the Adam Sandler sequel no one wants.
All said, damn, that is one helluva summer lineup. Let's see how the rivals react... [Box Office Mojo]
