Who? Brenton Thwaites Crowned Prince In 'Maleficent'

Is Brenton Thwaites going to be the biggest Aussie sensation to hit the United States since Paul Hogan or Yahoo Serious? Only time will tell, but Disney has picked the young stud and dropped him into their brewing "Maleficent" alongside Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Sharlto Copley, Juno Temple and more. Not bad for a Hollywood debut.

The young actor will play the prince in the movie that retells the story of "Sleeping Beauty" with Jolie as the evil title character and Fanning as the beautiful narcoleptic who'll wake up with a kiss or whatever. So why is this kid kind of like a big deal? In his native Australia, girls are already swooning for him thanks to his roles on the soap "Home And Away" and the teen show "SLiDE." He's also going to be showing off his ripped bod on Lifetime's upcoming "Blue Lagoon" remake, so in one fell swoop, the mouse house has notched girls and international markets with this casting. Good work dudes.

We'll have to wait and see if he's more than just a pretty face...and we'll be waiting for a while. The Robert Stromberg directed film starts shooting later this year but isn't slated to hit theaters until March 14, 2014. So until then gaze upon these pictures. Well he was the male lead in the Blue Lagoon which was a terrible script. But even so, he was a terrible actor. But acting skills are no longer a per-requisite for actors these days. Sadly pretty faces are what seem to count the most. So I guess we will have another pretty-faced bad actor crammed down our throats. By the way, after watching Blue Lagoon, I side with the so-called "haters"....I vote douche. When did hating low-quality crap become a bad thing, anyway?
