10 Essential Cinematic Antiheroes
Penned by Richard LaGravenese (“Water for Elephants,” “The Fisher King”) and inspired by "Behind the Candelabra: My Life With Liberace" by Liberace's lover Scott Thorson, the film will find Douglas in the lead role with Damon co-starring as Thorson, the performer's secret lover who engaged in a globetrotting romance with the star. After their relationship deteriorated, Thorson filed a massive lawsuit against Liberace before watching him die of AIDS. It's certainly a fascinating story, and one that will see both actors in roles unlike anything we've seen from them, and definitely in wardrobe that's flashier than their usual attire, onscreen or off. It will be interesting to see what kind of tone Soderbergh will bring to the picture, but considering how much he subverted expectations with "Magic Mike," we're eager to see what he does on his final hurrah.
An interesting supporting cast is lined up for this with Dan Aykroyd, Debbie Reynolds, Scott Bakula, Rob Lowe, Cheyenne Jackson, Boyd Holbrook, Nicky Katt, Tom Papa and more all on board. Shooting continues on the film and HBO will release it sometime in 2013. [E!]

Am literally incapable of picturing Michael Douglas playing Liberace. If he pulls this off he'll get an Oscar.

Can't help but wonder what kind of soundtrack Soderbergh will go for here, but I'm hoping for LOTS of disco! Between Liberace and Elysium Damon has two characters about as far apart as it is possible to be.
