Oh hey, remember that "Annie" remake everyone was talking about at the beginning of the year? Looks like it's still an actual thing.
Vulture reports that producer Will Smith and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z -- who is doing the music for the project -- are looking to enlist Emma Thompson to write the script. The acclaimed actress has penned "Sense and Sensibility" and the "Nanny McPhee" films and we suppose her work on the latter is what has the two entertainment titans courting her. And it certainly doesn't hurt that Thompson is co-starring with Smith in the upcoming "Men In Black 3."
Willow Smith will take the leading role in the updated version of the story about a Depression-era orphan who searches for a family to take her. Ryan Murphy of "Glee" fame was sought early on to direct but he eventually moved on. Will Smith is currently busy trying to get "Men In Black 3" finished, but as it wraps up, we presume movement on his daughter's film debut will begin to pick up steam.

Annie? Just be honest and call it "Little Orphan Nepotism" Will Smith let your kids earn their own way in life for a change.

it's amazing how much Will Smith makes me hate any and everything that he's involved in these days. Especially his kids.

One usually doesn't want to dislike anyone's children - if they do you no actual harm -, but the Smith family tries fucking hard.
