10 Essential Cinematic AntiheroesRumored since last year, Willem Dafoe ("Manderlay," "Antichrist") and Jean-Marc Barr ("Dogville," "Breaking The Waves") are among the director's previous collaborators to join, while Nicole Kidman, previously slated for a small role, has dropped out citing scheduling conflicts with her currently shooting "Grace Of Monaco." You win some, you lose some, we suppose, and as a reader suggested (and it's probably a good guess), we think the recently added Uma Thurman is her replacement. The new actors to join Von Trier's set are mostly unfamiliar names: Caroline Goodall, Kate Ashfield, Saskia Reeves and Omar Shargawi.
As you know, the movie tracks the sex life of a woman (Charlotte Gainsbourg) who recounts her tale to a bachelor (Stellan Skarsgard) who finds her badly beaten in an alley one evening. Jamie Bell, Shia LaBeouf, Christian Slater, Connie Nielsen, Udo Kier and more round things out. A 2013 bow is slated for this one, and no matter what we imagine this movie might be, we're sure Von Trier will turn that expectation on its head. [THR]
