It’s a new day, so you know what that means: a “Man Of Steel” update. From the very beginning we’ve heard how much more grounded and serious Zack Snyder’s take on the iconic character would be -- he recently called it his “most realistic” film -- and while many chalked it up to Christopher Nolan’s influence (he's an executive producer on the movie and his name gets plenty of play in the trailers), Superman himself sets the record straight.

Christopher Nolan is a hard man to track down, but after some patience and persistence, we were lucky enough to sit down with the (to name just a few) "Memento," "Prestige" and "Inception" director at length to discuss "The Dark Knight Rises," his debut feature film "Following" and much more about his lauded Batman trilogy. Yes, it's pretty much old news considering this is what director Christopher Nolan has been saying about "The Dark Knight Rises" since day one. But, considering the recent rumors about Joseph Gordon-Levitt (which have been denied by his reps) playing Batman in "Justice League," it's worth reminding folks how Nolan views the final entry in his trilogy as well as the possibilities of continuing the story.

As 23rd Bond chapter “Skyfall” preps for its public bow Stateside next month, and with many early reviews, including ours, calling it a fine return to franchise form, the pairing of Daniel Craig and director Sam Mendes looks to be one with a promising future if sustained. However, even in safe waters, Bond fans can still speculate toward the series’ future, and recently two lingering questions regarding dream additions to the series have finally been addressed.

Very few filmmakers have the power to be granted final cut on a picture: you pretty much have to be at the top of the tree, or working on miniscule budgets, in order to be allowed to cut together the movie you want, notes be damned. As such, it's no surprise that Director's Cuts of movies have become popular over the past few decades, particularly after Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner: The Director's Cut" demonstrated the masterpiece lurking beneath the somewhat tarnished original. Of course, the form's been bastardized somewhat, either by films like "Donnie Darko" where the filmmaker's preferred cut is substantially worse than the original, or by the stream of 'Unseen & Unrated' versions of comedies that add an extra 30 seconds of dick jokes to a picture. But that's neither here nor there.

"The Dark Knight Rises" is finally in theaters, and has been inspiring furious debate all weekend and into this week. But what there's relatively little of, compared to most major blockbusters, is thoughts on the film, and its production, from the filmmakers and cast themselves. Christopher Nolan is relatively press-shy (he doesn't do online press at all, outside press conferences), and compared to the onslaught of interviews that most tentpoles unleash, "The Dark Knight Rises" knew it was a sure thing, and didn't feel the need to chuck out the same sound bites endlessly.

Some of you have already seen it playing in front of "The Dark Knight Rises" this weekend, but one of two different teaser trailers for Warner Bros' next great superhero hope, "Man Of Steel," has just made its way online, via Yahoo. And those who've come to expect a certain kind of stylized, action-heavy kind of film from director Zack Snyder, the man behind "300" and "Sucker Punch," or even those who saw, legally or illegally, the Comic-Con teaser debuted last weekend, will find that the clip isn't quite what you were expecting.

At this point in time, Christopher Nolan must have actors lining up around the block to work with him. For someone who works, these days, on the scale he's accustomed to, for all the spectacle he puts on screen, he also doesn't forget to draw out stunning performances from his actors, from Guy Pearce's indelible turn in "Memento" to Heath Ledger's Oscar-winning Joker in "The Dark Knight."

We can all agree at this point that a certain sub-set of Christopher Nolan's fans are out of hand, what with the death threats to critics and all. But even if we were one of those who didn't like "The Dark Knight Rises," or indeed the rest of Nolan's output, we suspect that we'd still be glad he existed. While some might find his movies humorless (though we'd disagree), or chilly (though we'd disagree), or overly rigid (we'd... mostly disagree), but no one else is making films like Christopher Nolan, taking nine figures of Warner Bros.' money, pairing it with big ideas and concepts, and making resoundingly entertaining and thought-provoking blockbusters.
