The devastating but beautiful love/breakup story mashup "Blue Valentine" has taken a long time to come to fruition. When we recently sat down with star Michelle Williams, who gives an award-worthy performance in the film, she spoke of her passion for the project, and how she wanted to make it for more than six years after reading the script by co-writer and director Derek Cianfrance (two other writers are credited, Joey Curtis and Cami Delavigne). But Cianfrance had other plans once shooting began.

Gosling Not Averse To The Idea, Interested In The Challenge Of Becoming A Triple ThreatRyan Gosling and Derek Cianfrance's working relationship has already spawned the highly acclaimed romantic drama "Blue Valentine" with Michelle Williams and is set to continue with the newly-announced Jack London-inspired "The Place Beyond The Pines," which will center on "fathers and guns, and it has motorcycles and guns in it." But it looks like the duo are eyeing more potential projects to collaborate on.

So much for all those conversations Playlist writer Drew Taylor just had with Derek Cianfrance, Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams about the dreaded NC-17 rating their indie drama, "Blue Valentine," received earlier this year, which threatened to ruin the film's very viable Oscar chances and perhaps more importantly the opportunity to be seen by wider audiences under 17 (we hear teenagers like both Gosling and Williams, but hey, we could be wrong).

So far, the clips from "Blue Valentine" have largely focused on the happier times between the central couple Dean and Cindy played by Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, but in the latest look to hit the web, things are not going so well.

Updated: Ryan Gosling Joins As The Lead Update: Vulture reports that the film will star Ryan Gosling, and is aiming to shoot next summer. No plot details yet, but its said to be a "Jack London–inspired" tale. Additionally, HBO has tapped Cianfrance to develop a TV show for the network.
