With "Midnight In Paris" getting some of the best reviews Allen has received in years, and hitting the box office with a force the director's works haven't seen in decades, it seems like the helmer is on a new peak with his career. As per usual, he's already at work on his next film, continuing his pace of one movie per year, and today the full cast has been announced with a couple of exciting additions.

It seems like the Orlando Bloom comeback is underway in full force. For a little while after he broke through in "Lord of the Rings," the actor was the go-to-guy for period actioners, with leads in "Troy," the "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Kingdom of Heaven." But he never had the same success in contemporary fare, or got to grips with the tricky task of delivering his lines as anything other than a bland, smirking robot, and the actor's been essentially absent from screens since the third 'Pirates' movie.

Review: 'Arthur' A Tedious, Bland Comedy That Earns Intermittent Laughs Almost By Accident

“Why?” will echo through your head if you’re a fan of the 1981 “Arthur” starring Dudley Moore as you watch this useless remake. The original won a shiny pair of Oscars and is considered a classic, but apparently Warner Bros. thought it needed to be remade for contemporary audiences. But the larger philosophical question soon fades in favor of a strictly personal one: “Why me?” Though it has fleeting funny moments, this Russell Brand vehicle is a sputtering Pinto that surprises more when it runs well than when it lurches to a stop.

It's possibly just because the rest of the ceremony was such a painful, dull slog, but the presentation of Best Foreign Language Film by Helen Mirren and Russell Brand was one of the few lively points of this year's Oscars, with some suggesting on the night that the duo would make better hosts next year than James Franco and Anne Hathaway, although it could also be argued that the Pixar lamp and the rotting corpse of David Niven would have more chemistry as hosts than Franco & Hathaway.

Don't ask us why movie marketers do what they do but when the trailer and poster for "Arthur" recently landed, the film's love interest, indie film sensation Greta Gerwig, was nowhere to be found. Well, Warner Bros. have rectified that situation with a new, horribly Photoshopped poster that crams Gerwig in there and even she gets her name at the top of the poster. Guess the indie thesp is moving on up.

Ooof. Listen, we like Russell Brand, and he can be quick with a quip and wit, but we just sat here watching the trailer for "Arthur" -- yes, a remake of the Dudley Moore comedy "classic" -- and we kept waiting for something funny to happen. It never did.

As we discussed in our review from earlier in the week, there's not much notable about "No Strings Attached," which hits theaters today. But it does mark the studio debut of indie darling Greta Gerwig, whose sweet and funny performance is one of the few highlights. She's following it up by starring alongside Russell Brand in a remake of the Dudley Moore comedy "Arthur," but fear not, Gerwig hasn't abandoned the indie world entirely, as she's also starring in "Damsels in Distress," the long-awaited return of independent film legend Whit Stillman.
