Of all the genres to try and pull off, the romantic caper flick -- think "To Catch A Thief," or "Charade," or even "Ocean's Eleven" -- is one of the trickiest. For such a film to work out, it's got to be as light as a feather and feel entirely effortless, and all too many films aiming to hit that sweet spot end up feel entirely effort-ful. But if anyone feels like they might be suited to that sort of thing, it would be the Coen Brothers, who penned the script for the remake of a minor classic of the genre, the 1966 Michael Caine/Shirley MacLaine film "Gambit." Have they pulled off?

It's not the easiest thing, in a business dominated by multi-billion-dollar behemoths that have been running for the best part of a century such as Paramount, Warner Bros and 20th Century Fox, to establish a new film studio and distributor from scratch. Summit has been making a good fist of it in the past few years, with both a Best Picture Oscar winner in "The Hurt Locker" and a highly profitable mega-franchise in the "Twilight" series, but CBS Films, established around the some time, hasn't had the same success.

After securing a director in Michael Hoffman ("The Last Station," "Game 6"), the long-gestating Coen brothers script "Gambit" (not the superhero, kids) now has a lead actor circling the project.

Another project once linked to Doug Liman has now found a new director. Only two days ago it was reported that Steven Soderbergh would be tackling "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," (a project that Liman eventually passed on), now Deadline reports that "The Last Station" director Michael Hoffman has taken the helm of the Coen Brothers-scribed remake of the 1966 film "Gambit," a project linked to Liman this spring.
