Terence Winter
We're run featurettes, behind-the-scenes videos and making of documentaries here at The Playlist, but we'd wager there's been nothing quite like what you're about to watch below. Four and a half fucking hours, undiluted, with Terence Winter, the writer behind "Boardwalk Empire," "The Sopranos," "The Wolf Of Wall Street" and much, much more.

Boardwalk Empire, Season 4, Farewell Daddy
“The trick is to stay alive long enough to cash out.” Said by Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi), you can bet that sentiment’s going to drive the final season of HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” to its conclusion. Well, that and the inevitable tag line “all empires fall.” Yep, it’s all coming to an end and it’s likely not going to be pretty. But when is the right time to “cash out” and will that be the undoing of all these greedy and money-obsessed kingpins? As showrunner and creator Terence Winter (“The Wolf Of Wall Street” screenwriter) told us last year, “That’s a big theme of the show, the whole idea of when is enough, enough?”

When we spoke to "Boardwalk Empire" showrunner and head writer Terence Winter last year, the series creator was hoping to change the paradigm of his HBO show. Season four concluded much more adrift than previous seasons, with the fates of several characters up in the air. It wasn't exactly a cliffhanger per se, but very open-ended as to what would happen.

Though “Boardwalk Empire” has only one season left in the tank, hopefully, fans of the show can find solace in the fact that the Martin Scorsese/Terence Winter rock ‘n’ roll pilot for HBO is still moving forward. Olivia Wilde and Juno Temple have most recently joined the cast as the pilot is set to begin production this summer.

Boardwalk Empire, Season 4, Farewell Daddy
Was he playing it close to the vest, did slow ratings just catch up with the show, or did creative discussions yield a different approach? I interviewed “Boardwalk Empire” creator/head writer Terence Winter at the end of the fourth season late last year, and when I asked him if there was an end in sight for the show, he was fairly adamant that there were no plans to conclude the drama any time soon.

The Wolf Of Wall Street
When you make a film about the debaucherous activities of Wall Street traders, you’re guaranteed to have some entertaining stories on how it got made––which is exactly what we heard this past weekend when the cast and crew of "The Wolf of Wall Street" spoke about the movie at a press conference in New York City.

The Wolf Of Wall Street
The wolf is almost upon us. Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf Of Wall Street,” that is, the director's “Goodfellas”-esque look at the gangster-like cheats and liars in the New York stockbroker world in the mid 90s. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Jean Dujardin, Margot Robbie, Kyle Chandler and many more (including directors Rob Reiner and Spike Jonze) as a tease, a new poster and TV spot have been unveiled along with a almost 30 minute THR roundtable interview with Scorsese, DiCaprio, Hill and screenwriter Terence Winter (the creator and head writer of Scorsese’s “Boardwalk Empire”).

Her, Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams
So how influential are the National Board Of Review winners? Well, last year "Zero Dark Thirty" won Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress and went on to be shut out in all three categories when the Oscars rolled out. Basically, just remember that there is a gulf between critics and Academy voters (remember the year when "The Social Network" cleaned up in the all early awards?) so just take a breath. That said, it's nice to see the love.

Boardwalk Empire, Season 4, Farewell Daddy
Late last week, before the season four finale of "Boardwalk Empire," The Playlist had the chance to talk to the HBO mob drama's creator, show runner and head writer Terrence Winter. At this point, we're hoping you saw last night's season finale (recap here), a wrenching episode that saw the death of a fan favorite character (spoilers from here on in, ok?).

The fourth season of HBO’s mob drama “Boardwalk Empire” ends this Sunday. It’s an engrossing conclusion that brings heartbreak, tragedy and left-turn surprises you probably wouldn’t have expected. You’ll have to tune in Sunday night for more, but trust us when we say the underrated show is doing some of its best work this season and it’s must-watch TV in general, with one of the best casts on television right now (Steve Buscemi, Michael Shannon, Jeffrey Wright, Michael K. Williams, Kelly McDonald, Shea Whigham, Michael Stuhlbarg and many, many more).
