Two NYC Indies Make a Wright: Vachon, Schnabel Team Up for Biopic
It looks like the unusual life story of New York model-turned-photographer-turned-acclaimed children's book author Dare Wright is on its way to the screen at last, with Christine Vachon producing and Julian Schnabel directing. Variety reports today that Vachon's Killer Films is partnering with Britain's Elizabeth Karlsen, whose Number 9 Films optioned Wright's Lonely Doll series of books. Meanwhile, Vachon has optioned Jean Nathan's 2004 biography of Wright. The pair also co-produced Annette Bening's upcoming film, Mrs. Harris, and evidently plan on focusing the Wright biopic on her curiously close relationship with her mother.
