Ain't it Uncool, Part II: 'Nervous Breakdowns,' Legal Math

The Reeler opened for business this morning to a note from critic Michael Isbell, aka Ain't it Cool's Mr. Sheldrake, aka the guy whose publicist girlfriend supposedly left him for ex-Vivendi billionaire Jean-Marie Messier.

According to Isbell, The Reeler got it all wrong Tuesday when it commented on his legal troubles--which were outlined as follows in an article by the NY Daily News' Joanna Molloy:

(Publicist Anthea) Liontos, who has a child, took out a restraining order against Isbell. But after sending more E-mails, he was arrested by cops from the 29th Precinct on June 17. Isbell now faces a year behind bars on charges of stalking in the fourth degree, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated harassment, according to court documents.
OK. That seems pretty cut-and-dry. Except, um, it is not:
Stv,

thanks for noticing! fyi, a charge of 4th degree stalking has been filed, which is about emails and phone calls, not REAL stalking, which is not charged and never happened. Joanna Molloy was filing the story, whose point is that I am very much NOT a stalker, but rather was caught in the middle of a stressful situation and had, according to the best authorities, a nervous breakdown. Then she went on vacation and some slaphappy copywriter decided to take matters into their own hands and label me a "stalker" on the front page of the Daily News. I'm not.

Michael Isbell

OK, now I get it. My humble apologies. I will issue a correction forthwith: "In (Tuesday's) Daily News, Joanna Molloy has the story of a New York movie critic who faces a year in the slam on charges of aggravated harassment and fourth-degree stalking--not REAL stalking, but rather the nervous-breakdown variety--of his ex-girlfriend, as well as allegedly endangering the welfare of her child."

That's better. Thanks, Sheldrake--I am glad we could clear that up.
