Filmgoer, Meet Filmmaker: FVA Benefit Helps NYC Indies

The Film/Video Arts gang's Director's Cut Summer continues tonight, as film enthusiasts are invited to drop by the Lower East Side for F/VA's Meet the Filmmakers fete.

The get-together features 14 filmmakers who are raising funds for projects ranging from ethnic documentaries to animated shorts to 9/11 dramas. The directors on hand include Saturday Night Live animator Dean Kalman Lennert and IFC Film School participant Alrick Brown.

Besides all the meeting, greeting, networking and generally benign whoring, the hosts are serving beer and wine and will offer what they call "fantastic overstuffed goodie bags" for the first 100 attendees. Tickets are $50 at the door--a small price to pay for the sake of a few upstart NYC film freaks, is it not?

The fun starts around 6:30 at the CSV Cultural Center at 107 Suffolk St. Do not forget to introduce yourself to me when you stop by--it would be good to meet some of you crazy people who so patiently endure these ramblings.
