Queens Studio Scores Streep, Connelly and Must-Flee TV

Variety's Addie Morfoot fills us in today on a few of the new productions planned for Silvercup Studios over in Queens, including the long-awaited Streep-as-Wintour adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada and Todd Field's follow-up to his grossly overrated In the Bedroom.

Field's Little Children features Jennifer Connelly and Kate Winslet and "centers on a group of young marrieds, whose lives intersect on the playgrounds, town pools and streets of their small community in surprising and potentially dangerous ways," according to its New Line plot summary. Huh—that sounds potentially fucking awful.

On the other hand, Fox 2000's Prada is a look at the relationship between a tyrannical fashion editor and her hapless assistant. Meryl Streep plays Miranda Priestly (loosely modeled after Vogue's Anna Wintour) and Anne Hathaway portrays poor Andrea Sachs. Both films are set to shoot this fall and get all those tasty New York tax breaks, which should come in handy when trying to make their imminent box office failure look good to investors with steam billowing from their ears.

There is also some Jesus-y new NBC show starring Aidan Quinn being shot at Silvercup, but you know, whatever.
