Killer Films Moves Into MoMA
Gothamist features an interview today with Killer Films' fearless leader Christine Vachon, whose production imprint is on the receiving end of a Museum of Modern Art retrospective running tonight through Oct. 8. The Reeler broke down some of the series' dynamics last month, half-drooling with anticipation at screening presentations by Killer alums Todd Haynes, John Cameron Mitchell, John Waters and Tom Kalin among others; filmmaker Mary Harron starts things off at 8:30 this evening with the NYC premiere of her biopic The Notorious Bettie Page, which will not screen in town again until March. I do not even know how many more viewings my 1993-era videotape of Poison will survive, so it is kind of perfect timing for me. Check MoMA's Web site for a complete schedule, and take advantage of the rare opportunity to check out Vachon & Co.'s films in a venue that finally treats them like the great art they are.
