Woody Allen, Interviewee

However, Reuters has a sneak peek at Vanity Fair's December interview with Allen, who has now turned his wry misanthropy on himself in new and equally dispiriting ways: "All the crap that they tell you about ... getting joy, and having a kind of wisdom in your golden years -- it's all tripe," said Allen, who turns 70 on December 1. "I've gained no wisdom, no insight, no mellowing. I would make all the same mistakes again, today." Ewww. I mean, I would get it, I guess, if he had not followed up with the part about his role in his marriage having "a more paternal feeling to it." Anyway, Allen adds that he never made anything as good as Kurosawa's or Bergman's best (do not be so hard on yourself, there, guy) and that he bears "no professional grudge" against Farrow. Right, Woody--as opposed to the "personal" one stemming from her accusing you of child molestation? Jesus, man, call her agent; the sky's the limit for you two.
