Connecticut Goes 'Hollywood'; NYC Yawns
The Reeler loves to start out the day with a good pipe dream, especially when it comes in the form of a spellbindingly lame press release from Gotham's neighbor to the north: Connecticut State Speaker of the House Jim Amann, State Representative Tom Reynolds and Hollywood Film Star and Oscar-Acclaimed, veteran actress Cathy Moriarty Gentile (star of Raging Bull, Analyze That, etc.) and Joseph Gentile will host a news conference at 2:30 PM, on Friday afternoon, November 4, 2005, at the State Capitol in Hartford, to discuss the historic signing and the prospect of Utopia Movie Studios developing land in Preston, which is being transferred by the state to the town. The project is expected to add tens of thousands of jobs to the New England region. Officials are calling the project "Hollywood East," as though the pungent crash-and-burn smell of death I sense when associating "veteran actress Cathy Moriarty Gentile" with "tens of thousands of jobs" is not quite strong enough. But it is an election year, I suppose, so maybe Bloomberg's film office should dispatch a spy--those crazy Gentiles are always up to something. Posted by stvanairsdale on Nov 4, 2005 at 09:44AM |
