Among the films directed by women in 2011: "Pariah," "In The Land of Blood and Honey," "We Need to Talk About Kevin"
The Women and Hollywood blog has put together this video to remind the Academy (and the rest of us) of the inequities of the movie industry. Watch below and consider their concerns about female directors missing from this year's Academy Awards here.
Funny short story about the Oscars: R.I.P. Oscar A Hollywood Satire by Andie Heid (includes: The Oscar Games, Movie Star Wars, Catwoman Rises, Battle of the Snow Whites, The Twilight Saga continues)
Was surprised at how many quality films are cited. Surprised how good they are, and that they slipped from memory. Most, perhaps all, are Oscar caliber. Certainly, a couple should have been nominated. 'Meek's Cutoff' and 'Higher Ground' stand out, but really, so do the rest.

The statistics for nominated women directors are more impressive if you consider those women nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.

Point well made.
