I never do junkets. But at Comic-Con a year ago last July, the place went nuts over Twilight star Rob Pattinson. So last November, I knew I had to interview the young Brit actor with my flip cam. Summit gave me a one-on-one with him at the Four Seasons.
He doesn’t do one-on-ones anymore. This past July, the Hall H fans went nuts again, with New Moon footage (here’s my coverage of the press conferences, complete with video).
Now a year after Twilight (worldwide gross: $382.5 million) comes the November 20 release of the Twilight Saga sequel based on Stephenie Meyer’s New Moon. And Pattinson’s on the cover of Vanity Fair. They’re teasing us with a little taste, because they want us to plunk down some change for the print edition. Vanity Fair links and Pattinson video are on the jump.

I’m glad Vanity Fair is doing a piece on Pattinson instead of that werewolf guy. I guess the buzz got two big on the latter too soon and now is back to Pattinson again.
Are there advanced press screenings for New Moon?
Also, has there been any reports of EXACTLY how much screen time Pattinson has in it?
Anne, I read your blog often and I never realized that you were the one that did the famous Rob Variety interview! Do you know how BIG that specific interview of yours is in the Twi-blogger community?! Well we love it and we wish more of his interviews were as “personal” as yours!
I don’t care about the twilight films at all (though no doubt some female in my life will make sure I see the new one at some point), but I’m always glad to see a young actor understand that the most important thing is the quality of the script. I think Pattinson has a bright future ahead of him.

I am so sick to see this guy face everywhere. So much fame for someone with so little talent. Thats Hollywood for you.
So sick of the haters! If you don’t care for him just look over the stuff about him, like I do with things I’m not interested in! Hypocrites! Anyway back to Rob, I wish someone would pull him aside and help him with his low self esteem! Lord knows there are enough people out there hating on him without him putting himself down! I also think Robert Pattinson has a bright future ahead of him! Sounds like “Bel Ami “with Nicole Kidman has hit written all over it to me! I for one can’t wait to see it, including” Remember Me” in February!
Annie, Pattinson wasn’t getting offered the choice scripts before he hit it big with surprise hit Twilight. He stated that what attracted him to the part was the chance to work with indie darling Kristen Stewart, and Catherine Hardwicke. Now he is getting offered better scripts. See how that works? I’m sure Johnny Depp didn’t do 21 Jump Street for the aesthetic possibilities either, but one has to start somewhere, right? Plus, his success with this franchise, a future project with Hugh Jackman, and a chance to be the lead in an adaptation of Bel Ami would hardly put him in the category of “loser”. Time will tell about his future successes, but I also think he has a bright future, and think he is very talented.
