Netflix had its best month ever this past June, with subscriber viewership reaching a billion hours of content. This breaks down to 33 million hours of video for each day of the month, and 1.4 million hours per hour.

Using the rough subscriber figure of 26 million (though 25 million is closer to accurate), each user is watching 75 to 80 minutes of Netflix content per day -- a substantial chunk of the approximate five hours of TV the average American watches daily.

The news was announced via Facebook from Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, who congratulated the company's chief content officer Ted Sarandos. Hastings mentioned in his status update that when Netflix brings on new original programming like "House of Cards" (an expensive and overbudget David Fincher and Kevin Spacey collaboration) and produces the 10-episode 4th season of "Arrested Development," June's bullish viewership will be surpassed.
