Sony Pictures Classics Nabs Peter Jackson's Sundance Doc 'West of Memphis'

It may be the fourth documentary about the famed "West Memphis Three," but "West of Memphis," which debuted well at Sundance this January, was the one that got three innocent men out of jail after 18 years on Death Row.

Speakers at IFP's Script to Screen Include Bennett Miller, Leslye Hedland, Ry Russo-Young

IFP announced today that this year's installment of their popular writer/directors conference, Script to Screen, will be anchored by Oscar-nominated director Bennett Miller ("Moneyball"), and features up-and-coming directors Leslye Headland ("Bachelorette") and Ry Russo-Young ("Nobody Walks") as part of a Screenwriter's Roundtable discussion. The conference takes place March 17, and is presented in partnership with Writers Guild of America East, the New York Television Festival, and BookExpo America.

Amazon Adds 'Melancholia,' '13 Assassins' and More Magnolia Goodies to Prime Instant Video Library

Amazon is adding a slew of Magnolia Pictures titles to its Prime Instant Video library. "Melancholia," "13 Assassins" and "Page One: Inside the NY Times" are a few of the Magnolia standouts available for streaming to Prime members on the site.

SXSW: Mysterious Mondo Gallery Event During SXSW 2012

Tribeca Film Festival 2012 Will Open with 'The Five-Year Engagement' Starring Segel and Blunt

The Tribeca Film Festival will open its 2012 edition on April 18 with Universal romantic comedy "The Five-Year Engagement" (April 27). The comedy stars Jason Segel and Emily Blunt as an engaged couple who keep postponing their wedding day. The Judd Apatow-produced slapstick comedy reunites director/writer/producer Nicholas Stoller and writer/star Segel ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall"). The Festival will run through April 29. Red Flag Picks Up Doc 'High Ground'; War Vets Summit the Himalayas with Blind Guide Weihenmayer

Michael Brown's "High Ground" has been picked up by Red Flag Releasing for North American distribution. The documentary follows eleven Irag and Afghanistan war vets and one Gold Star Mother during their summit to the 20,000 foot Mount Lobuche peak in the Himalayas, along with their guide -- blind Erik Weihenmayer (who was the subject of Brown's doc "Farther Than the Eye Can See" as he climbed Everest in 2001) and his team.

HBO Backs Mann & Frankham's 'Witness': Doc Series Follows War Combat Photographers

HBO has lined up a new doc series "Witness" from "Luck" filmmaker Michael Mann; he and David Frankham will produce. The series will follow young war combat photographers as they go into conflict zones throughout Mexico, Brazil, Uganda and Libya.
