Twenty-seven hours after he and Thierry Fremaux announced the films in the Official Selection at Cannes this year, Gilles Jacob convened two handfuls of journalists for a pleasingly intimate [read : elbow-to-elbow] promotional luncheon at "La Mediterranée." The restaurant, across the street from Jacob's publisher, Flammarion, figures in a memorable scene in Orson Welles' "F for Fake" and none other than Jean Cocteau designed the plates.

Zach Braff Exceeds $2 Million Goal via Kickstarter for New Feature UPDATED (VIDEO)

"Scrubs" star Zach Braff, who hasn't directed a theatrical film since 2004's seminal indie romance "Garden State," has now raised over $1.5 million in one day on the crowd-funding site Kickstarter for his new feature film project, "Wish I Was Here." This has ignited a firestorm of protest at the idea of millionaires turning to crowdsourcing to fund indie pictures.
