Harvey Weinstein and Disney Bury the Hatchet, Team for Live-Action Adaptation of 'Artemis Fowl'

Never say never. Harvey Weinstein, who in 2005 left Disney and his Miramax Films following intense disagreements with chief exec Michael Eisner, is now on board for an adaptation of "Artemis Fowl" for the Mouse House. Weinstein, but not the Weinstein Company, is set to produce.

WATCH: First Trailer for Ben Stiller's Oscar Hopeful 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty'

The first trailer for Ben Stiller's "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," in which he also stars, has landed. In the whimsical teaser, we see Stiller's Life Magazine journalist Mitty leading an alternate fantasy life of mountain scaling, building jumping and helicopter riding. Sean Penn, Kristen Wiig (as Mitty's love interest) and Adam Scott also make appearances. Watch below, along with new images from the film.

Elisabeth Moss and Jason Schwartzman are set to star in "Listen Up Philip," the next film by indie director Alex Ross Perry ("The Color Wheel"). The project is set in New York, and centers on a newly successful writer (Schwartzman) whose harmful life decisions seriously affect his photographer girlfriend (Moss).

The 38th Toronto International Film Festival has unveiled its lineup for the Midnight Madness section, celebrating its 25th year. Opening the program is Lucky McKee and Chris Sivertson's "All Cheerleaders Die"; the nine-film section also boasts the world premieres of Eli Roth's "The Green Inferno," Mike Flanagan's "Oculus," Joe Begos' "Almost Human" (trailer below) and Hitoshi Matsumoto's "R100."

TV Mavens, Check Out 'The Writers' Room,' Hosted by Jim Rash (VIDEO PREVIEW)

This is my idea of a good time: a smart TV series about my fave TV shows and the writers who write them. So far I've seen three half-hour episodes (presented by The Sundance Channel and Entertainment Weekly). Each show features Oscar-winning screenwriter Jim Rash ("The Descendants")-- who also acts on "Community" and wrote, directed and stars in summer hit "The Way, Way Back"-- gently interviewing the showrunner and various writers and usually one star of a hit show. They talk shop, and luckily Rash--who is sharp, funny and curious--has a good sense of how to get entertaining intel out of these gifted people.

My fellow NYU alumnus Spike Lee, now a grad school professor, has posted on Kickstarter the list of films that he considers to be essential viewing for any aspiring filmmaker. He gives it out to his students on the first day of class. It's a fabulous list! He's right. Any proper cinephile should have seen all these films.
