In the Works: River Road Acquires 'Fordlandia' Rights, Ben Coccio Adapting

Screenwriter Ben Coccio will pen the adaptation of Pulitzer Prize finalist Greg Grandin's "Fordlandia: The Rise And Fall Of Henry Ford's Forgotten Jungle City."  River Road Entertainment has acquired the writes and engaged the "Place Beyond the Pines" scribe to reimagine the 2009 book for the big screen. The book looks at the American men who built a utopian American indistrial town in the Brazilian Amazon, as part of Henry Ford's imperialistic machinations. The book's description states "Ford’s great delusion was not that the Amazon could be tamed but that the forces of capitalism, once released, might yet be contained."

Weekend Preview: 'Samsara,' 'Little White Lies,' 'Wild Horse,' 'Premium Rush' & More

Consider this a weekend to indulge at the movies. The 70mm documentary "Samsara" is a gorgeous, spiritually rich experience to let wash over you, while "Wild Horse, Wild Ride" examines the equine-and-man relationship and delivers a moving result akin to last year's "Buck." Guillaume Canet ("Tell No One") returns with the unabashedly French "Little White Lies," which requires antsy Americans to accept its slow pace and self-indulgence in order to appreciate its fine acting, particularly Marion Cotillard and Benoît Magimel.
