Iconic Images from French New Wave in Raymond Cauchetier's Photos De Cinéma Exhibit

Raymond Cauchetier's photographs of the French New Wave are treasures of the period. His photographs, from the sets of films such as Jean-Luc Godard's "Breathless" (he was the official on-set photographer) and François Truffaut's "Jules et Jim" are iconic. Gorgeous exhibition collection Photos De Cinéma is on view at Santa Monica's Peter Fefferman Gallery until December 6.

Eleven Live-Action Short Films Advance in Oscar Race

Sundance 2013: Spotlight, Park City at Midnight, New Frontiers Programs, Focus on Exhibition

Unlike most of the Sundance Film Festival sections this coming January, which largely introduce brand-new films, the Spotlight program screens the best of films that have already been shown around the world. Many are official Oscar submissions, including Sony Pictures Classics releases "Fill the Void" and "No," while their "The Gatekeepers" is in this year's documentary race. Sarah Polley's lauded Telluride/Toronto entry "Stories We Tell" (Roadside) will compete next year.

Academy Reveals Visual Effects Shortlist of Ten, Including 'John Carter,' 'Life of Pi' and 'The Hobbit'

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed the Visual Effects Branch's shortlist of ten films vying for the final five Oscar nominations in the Visual Effects category. Members of the branch are invited to view ten-minute excerpts from each of the ten films at the annual VFX bakeoff on Thursday, January 3. Following the bakeoff members will make their choices on the final five to be announced in January 10.

Jennifer Lee to Co-Direct Disney's 'Frozen'; Women Helmers Still Minority in Animated Features

Disney has tapped Jennifer Lee to co-direct the studio's 53rd animated feature "Frozen" with Chris Buck. Lee contributed to the film's screenplay, and was also a co-writer on old-school-arcade box office hit "Wreck-It Ralph."
